Import and export Last updated

Import and re-import

Upload, Match columns, Check, Done. Import the same file again later and existing items update instead of doubling up.

Import in four steps

Open Imports (press ⌘K or Ctrl+K and type it).

  1. Upload a CSV, up to 5 MB and 10,000 rows. Only a name column is required.
  2. Match columns: each column is matched to a field by its header, with a live preview of the items. Fix any guess. Unknown columns can become Custom fields.
  3. Check: exactly what will be created, the new folders, and the reason for any row that would be skipped. Nothing is written yet.
  4. Done: a receipt with View items and Print labels.

If an import is interrupted, it resumes where it stopped instead of starting again.

Files from other tools

Exports from ItemTally, Sortly and BoxHero are recognised from their headers and mapped for you. Any other CSV works with the Match columns step.

Photos and codes

A column of public image links is fetched during the import, up to eight photos per item. A column of barcodes or old asset numbers, mapped to Barcode or code, is attached to the items, so existing labels keep scanning. Several code columns can be mapped at once.

Re-import to update

Once you have items, the Upload step offers Update items I already have. Each row is matched to an existing item by code, then serial, then exact name and unit (only when exactly one item matches). The Check step then says how many will be added and how many updated. Blank cells never clear a field. Quantity differences post as count lines noted with the file name, and location changes post as moves.

Counted or unique

Add a Type column with quantity or unique to say which is which. Without it, a row with a quantity is counted stock and a row with only a serial is unique.
