ItemTally vs EZOfficeInventory

EZOfficeInventory, now sold as EZO EAM, is a broad asset management suite with unlimited users and a long feature list. The honest difference is weight and metering. EZO prices by how many items you track and gates offline, the request portal and the API by tier; ItemTally never meters items and puts every feature on every plan.

Choose EZOfficeInventory if

  • You need purchase orders, vendors, contracts or depreciation alongside your equipment.
  • You want maintenance work orders and a CMMS in the same system as the register.
  • You track vehicles or plant and want GPS or telematics integrations.

Choose ItemTally if

  • You don't want the bill to grow as the register grows.
  • You want people to request and take things themselves without buying a higher tier.
  • You'd rather start free this afternoon than book a trial and a call.

Where EZOfficeInventory is better

Every tool has a reason people pick it. These are EZOfficeInventory's.

  1. Breadth

Purchase orders, vendors, contracts, depreciation, packages, bundles, carts and multi-tier approvals. If your asset team also does procurement, EZO keeps it in one place. We never will.

  2. Maintenance and work orders

Basic service records on every plan, preventive maintenance, and a CMMS add-on with technicians and work-order automation. ItemTally keeps service dates and reminders, with no work orders.

  3. Unlimited users on every plan

Everyone can have a login, under a fair usage policy, at no extra cost.

  4. Offline, on the top tier

EZO's Enterprise plan includes a mobile offline app. Ours comes with phone apps that are still in testing.

The structural difference

EZO’s model is unlimited users, priced by item count. That’s generous to big teams and hard on growing registers: each tier of items moves the bill, and the features most teams reach for next (custody transfers, the API, a self-service portal, offline) sit on progressively higher plans.

ItemTally inverts that. Items are never metered, and every feature is on every plan. What changes between plans is how many people edit the register and how many borrow from it. The trade is scope: EZO is a full enterprise asset suite with procurement and maintenance, and ItemTally is a register, a logbook and the hand-overs around them.

The fair question: is your asset team also your purchasing and maintenance team? EZO is built for that. If your problem is “what do we have, where is it and who’s got it”, most of EZO is weight you’d pay for and not use.

The part a price cut can't copy: ItemTally never meters items, on any plan, and that is a signed, dated promise. Read the pledge →

What it costs at real team sizes

EZO prices each plan by the number of items you track, with unlimited users. Higher tiers unlock custody transfers, the API, the request portal and, on Enterprise, offline.

Switching from EZOfficeInventory takes an afternoon

Nothing is written to your new register until you've seen the preview.

  1. Export your items from EZO with its Excel export, and save the sheet as CSV.

  2. Import the CSV into ItemTally. Map name, asset number, location, group and your custom fields. Stock and inventory items come across as quantity items when you map their quantity.

  3. Preview the dry run. Nothing is written until you confirm. Re-import the same file later and matching rows update instead of duplicating.

  4. Keep the labels. Map the column holding each item's barcode value to codes, and existing stickers with that value keep scanning.
