ItemTally vs inFlow Stockroom

Stockroom is inFlow’s simple-tracking product, launched September 2025 - and we respect it: same scope philosophy as ours (no sales orders, ever), and in April 2026 it became the first mainstream SMB inventory vendor to ship first-party MCP support. The honest summary: the same category, at roughly six times the price - $129/mo flat versus €19/mo flat.

What inFlow Stockroom does well

  • They drew the same line we did. No sales orders, no purchasing - a tracker, not an ERP. Their exclusion list reads like our scope definition, and that’s a compliment in both directions.
  • First-party MCP, first. inFlow shipped assistant access on its public API in April 2026, months before most of the category noticed. Credit where due - we followed the same road.
  • A mid-market parent. Stockroom sits on inFlow’s mature platform: if you outgrow tracking and genuinely need orders and B2B portals, their upgrade path is real.

The structural difference

Stockroom prices like the mid-market product it grew out of: $129/mo flat, unlimited items and scanning users. That flat price is genuinely fair dealing - but it assumes a warehouse budget.

ItemTally prices for the van, the studio and the stockroom shelf: €19/mo flat, unlimited items, one price dial (people who can write). Same no-metering philosophy, an order of magnitude apart - and the free tier is a real register, not a trial.

The fair question is fit, not features: if you have a warehouse manager and a five-figure inventory budget, Stockroom is a credible choice. If you’re a crew of two to ten keeping honest count of tools and stock, you’d be paying for headroom you never use.
The part that can’t be copied by a price cut: ItemTally’s pricing never meters items, on any plan, ever - and that is a signed, dated promise, not a plan detail. Read the pledge →

Switching is an afternoon, not a project

Whatever you're coming from, the move is the same three steps - and nothing is written to your new register until you've seen the preview.

  1. Export a CSV from inFlow Stockroom. Any export works - the importer maps your columns to fields, and Sortly/BoxHero exports have one-click presets that keep folders, custom fields and quantities.
  2. Preview the dry run. ItemTally shows exactly what will be created - items, folders, fields, photos fetched from your export's image links - before a single row is written. Fix mappings, run it again, no harm done.
  3. Print fresh labels, or don't. Old QR labels can re-attach as codes so existing stickers keep scanning. New QR identities are generated automatically either way - the full walkthrough is here.

Questions every switcher asks

How do I move my data from inFlow Stockroom to ItemTally?

Export a CSV from your current tool and import it - the importer maps columns, previews everything as a dry run, and writes nothing until you confirm. Sortly and BoxHero exports have one-click presets (folders, custom fields, quantities, and photos fetched automatically). A typical register moves in an afternoon.

Is there really a free plan, or is it a trial?

Free forever, for one writer, with unlimited items, offline, exports and API read keys - no card, no trial clock. Paid plans exist for crews: €19/month flat for up to five writers, €49/month flat for unlimited.

What happens to my data if I leave ItemTally?

Full CSV export on every plan, any day, no questions. Data freedom is mechanical, not a promise - ItemTally's own export re-imports cleanly, and that round-trip is tested.

Will the price rise on me later?

Not on you: your joining price is locked, and items are never metered on any plan. Both are part of a signed, dated public pledge - written after watching other tools ambush their customers with re-pricing.

Try the flat-priced way

Import your CSV in minutes. One writer is free forever - unlimited items, every feature, no card, no trial clock. And your CSV exports back out any day you like.
