Hand over and return

Scan, pick the person, set a due date and hand over. Return with a scan, extend when needed, and report anything that came back broken.

Hand something over

Scan the item and tap Hand to someone, or use Hand over on the item page. Pick the person and a due date. The due date starts at a week, or the day before the item’s next booking. Add a note or a signature if you want one; some folders ask for a signature every time.

For many things at once, scan them into the Basket and choose Hand N things to…. One receipt, one signature.

If the person has an email address, they get a receipt listing what they have, when it’s due, and their My things link.

Take it back

Scan the item and tap Return. To check in a pile, switch the scanner to Return mode and scan each thing as it comes back. You can also return from Out, Today or a person’s page. Editors can return anything; borrowers return what they hold. Every return has Undo for a few seconds.

Something came back broken

Choose Return and report the problem and say what’s wrong. A Came back damaged card appears on Today until someone marks it handled.

Extend a loan

Use Extend on the scan sheet, Out or Today. ItemTally checks for a later booking first. Borrowers can push their own due date later, up to 90 days ahead. The new date is written in the item’s logbook.

Give counted stock to someone

To give stock to a person (“5 boxes of gloves to Jonas”), use Hand to someone on a counted item and set the amount. It’s logged as stock out to that person and shows on Out as 5 with them until it’s returned.

Still stuck? Email [email protected] with what you're trying to do. A person who works on ItemTally answers, usually within a business day.
