Re-import updates what you have.
Keep a spreadsheet for a while longer if your team likes it. Re-importing it updates existing items instead of duplicating them, and the Check step shows every change, old value next to new, before anything is written.

- Quantity differences post as count lines noted with the file name. Location changes post as moves.

The way out is always open. Export every item as CSV, the full workspace as a ZIP, or a PDF for the insurer. On every plan, including the free one.
The export re-imports cleanly, so moving between workspaces or back to a spreadsheet loses nothing. The public API reads the same register, and so can your AI assistant.
Questions people ask
Can a report arrive by e-mail?
Yes. Save report keeps the filters you chose, and a saved report can be e-mailed to you every Monday.
Is there a cost-of-goods engine?
No. Each item has a value field and the totals add up, but there is no cost-of-goods modelling or landed cost. ItemTally isn't accounting software.
Can someone without an account see the numbers?
Yes. An items export can be shared as a read-only link for 30 days, and folders or items can be shared read-only with people outside the team.
Can I get all my data out?
Any day, on every plan: every item as CSV, a PDF inventory report for insurers, or a full takeout of everything as a ZIP of CSVs.
Will re-importing my spreadsheet create duplicates?
No. Tick Update items I already have and each row is matched by code, then serial, then exact name and unit. You see every change before anything is written, and blank cells never clear a field.
